You probably know that you should floss and brush your mouth every day if you’re interested in having good oral health. However, did you know that it is important to choose a toothpaste that works for your unique needs? You see, some toothpastes can actually damage your pearly whites. For instance, did you know that some people are actually allergic to toothpaste and may not even know it?

Would you be surprised to hear that a common sign of a toothpaste allergy is a rash? This rash may itch and may reach your chin, your cheeks, or even your nose. If you have a toothpaste allergy, you might also have to cope with symptoms like hives, painful canker sores, and even respiratory problems.

There are many different things that can be causing your allergy. For example, some people find that they are allergic to the spearmint or peppermint oils that can be found in many kinds of toothpaste. There are other ingredients that you may be allergic to, such as fluoride. While fluoride can help you avoid tooth decay, individuals who are allergic to toothpaste may need to avoid toothpaste with fluoride in it. Luckily, if you do have this allergy, there are a few things you can do. For instance, you could put less toothpaste on your toothbrush or rinse your teeth and gums with water after you brush.
